Introduction

You strolled into an art exhibition, but here’s the catch - you’ve never been to one before.

You thought,

“What is going on here? I do not understand this at all.

I think I know art. But why is this painting so expensive, while the other that appeals to me more is so much cheaper in comparison?”

Why is a common household item carelessly taped onto the wall with a hefty price tag?”

Suddenly, you start to wonder if you really know what art is all about?

Most of the reading materials available are often difficult to understand, using a set of words that only people in the art world would understand or pretend to understand. This controversial language is called ‘Art Speak’.

Unfortunately, this language creates a big gap between people who know about the art world and those who don’t. Contemporary art practices can be so complex that people who aren’t familiar with them often feel turned off by them.

Don’t worry, I’m here to help you navigate the world of art. Whether you’re new to contemporary or fine art, I’ve got you covered. This space is for anyone who feels a bit lost and wants to learn more.

This section is a collection of knowledge specially catered to people who are curious about art and wish to learn more about it.

I will be expanding the amount of information gathered here over time.

Please note that this section will not include an in depth encyclopedia on history of art.

You can easily find more information on artworks and its history on platforms such as Google Arts & Culture or Wikipedia.
